Packaging

Each piece comes packaged in a clear resealable bag with a Black Drop tag inside for protection. Your order will ship in a padded package.

 

Sustainability

To reduce waste, we reuse packaging whenever possible.

Packaging of your Black Drops is necessary because it protects your pieces in transit and beyond. Black Drop has switched over to plastic-free product packaging.

These new clear eco bags are biodegradable and are able to be commercially composted. If you are part of a curbside compost collection program you can compost these here (not in a backyard compost). If these bags are disposed of in the general waste stream, they will break down and decompose (unlike plastic since these new eco bags are made from plant materials).

Whenever possible, the acrylic used in Black Drop pieces are laser cut by our local supplier from larger jobs with the intention of reducing waste headed for the landfill. We are doing everything we can to move towards our ultimate goal of a single-use-plastic-free existence. We love to learn of and implement new ways to make less of an environmental impact. The next in line is to switch to sustainable shipping materials once our current supply is used up.

 

Shipping

Black Drop pieces are made by hand so please allow up to 1 week for your order to be shipped. If we have your order in stock, it will ship in 1-3 days.

Usually we choose to ship with Canada Post. As their negotiations continue, it is possible that there will be another Canada Post strike as early as May 22nd 2025. Because of this, we are temporarily switching over to Purolator for shipping. Shipping quotes will be provided at checkout.

Care Instructions

Being dropped or knocked could cause your piece damage. Also, it is best to store your Black Drops hanging up instead of in a jewellery box to avoid scratches and marks.

Wearing a piece constantly and/or exposing your piece to excess moisture or lotions/products could significantly shorten its life. For pieces that have holes drilled through for the rings to hold the chain, showering etc could cause water to seep in and damage the photo inside. The pieces that are drilled through the side with no jump rings installed to hold the chain are waterproof.

To clean, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Metal portions can be polished/rubbed clean by hand. Be careful to avoid exposing the resin portion to any polishing compounds because this can affect the smooth finish.

The sterling silver chains are e-coated to prevent tarnishing and can also help if someone has a metal sensitivity. Because of this coating, they cannot be chemically cleaned, but they can be polished by hand just by rubbing with a cloth.
