Packaging

 

Each piece comes packaged in a clear resealable bag with a Black Drop tag inside for protection. Your order will ship in a padded package.

 

To reduce waste, we reuse packaging that is in good condition whenever possible

​Black Drop has switched over to plastic-free product packaging. The 3” cellophane bags have been replaced with 3.25” eco bags. 

 

Packaging of the jewellery is necessary because it protects the pieces in transit and beyond.

 

These new clear eco bags are biodegradable and are able to be commercially composted. If you are part of a curbside compost collection program you can compost these here (not in a backyard compost). If these bags are disposed of in the general waste stream, they will break down and decompose (unlike plastic since these new eco bags are made from plant materials).

 

Whenever possible, the acrylic used in Black Drop pieces are laser cut by our local supplier from larger jobs with the intention of reducing waste headed for the landfill. We are doing everything we canto move towards the goal of a more single-use-plastic-free existence when it comes to production. We love to learn of and implement new ways to make less of an environmental impact. The next in line is to switch to sustainable shipping materials once our current supply is used up.

 

You will know if your order’s packaging have the new eco-bags because they will be a 1/4” wider than our previous packaging. They feel slightly stiffer but are otherwise very similar. They are recommended to not sit in direct sunlight or be exposed to liquids.

Shipping

 

Black Drop pieces are made by hand so please allow up to 2 weeks (usually much less) for your order to be shipped. If we have your order in stock, it will ship within a few days.

 

Your order will arrive by regular mail Up to 5-7 business days for shipping within Canada and 7-10 business days for shipments outside of Canada. **Free shipping within Canada!**

Care Instructions

 

Being dropped or knocked could cause your piece damage. Also, it is best to store your Black Drops hanging up instead of in a jewellery box to avoid scratches and marks.

 

Wearing a piece constantly and/or exposing your piece to excess moisture or lotions/products could significantly shorten its life. For pieces that have holes drilled through for the rings to hold the chain, showering etc could cause water to seep in and damage the photo inside.

 

To clean, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Metal portions can be polished/rubbed clean by hand. Be careful to avoid exposing the resin portion to any polishing compounds because this will destroy the smooth finish.

 

The sterling silver chains are e-coated to prevent tarnishing and can also help if someone has a metal sensitivity. Because of this coating, they cannot be chemically cleaned, but they can be polished by hand just by rubbing with a cloth.
