The Summer Of Tea

This is (was?) my summer: sitting at Granville Island, surrounded by other artists and visitors from all over the world, making grocery lists and sipping delicious cold fruit tea from the Granville Island Tea Company out of giant mason jars.  Does this have to end?

New!

Have a look at the new pieces!  They’re made from a cast sterling silver base and have resin with a photograph inside.

They’re not available online yet, but I will bring a few to Granville Island this Saturday the 31st.

Rings???

I’ve been a ‘jeweler’ for almost 2 years now.  I use the term jeweler awkwardly because it just doesn’t feel right.  I know - I make things that people wear that usually fall into the jewelry category. But do they really belong there?  I feel like it’s more about the photos.  I try to make the pieces simple… uncomplicated shapes and clear backgrounds so that the image is the first and maybe the only thing you notice.

Aaaaanyways…. I’ve always had a thing for rings… even more than necklaces or earrings, which is what I’ve been making this whole time.  I hadn’t yet figured out a way to make them and have them be my own style and still go along with the simple clean lines that would sit well next to the rest of the pieces I make.

I have just finished a couple samples… and it’s really exciting to see them!

Not for sale yet!  But I promise I’ll let you know when.

New Site!

I’ve redone the whole site. Hopefully it’s a little easier and a little more fun to navigate around!

See you all at the Canamade market starting this Thursday at 151 W Cordova Street from 11am to 8pm everyday. Black Drop will be there from Thursday the 11th to Tuesday the 16th.

Layers

layers

I’ve just finished a batch of shiny and new layer pieces for the Canamade show coming up.

These pieces have an extra image embedded in resin on top of the original image.  I’m hoping you can tell how much more three dimensional they look in the photos!

See you in Gastown this weekend! 151 W Cordova Street (the old Storeyum)  Friday from 4-9pm, Saturday from 11am-9pm, Sunday from 11am-5pm.

A bunch of years ago I was traveling a lot.  And for some weird and coincidental reason, I used to have airplane shadows cross over me pretty frequently… well, not every day, but 4 or 5 times it happened and I felt like every time it happened to me, that I was destined to be on a plane in a short time…. but it hasn’t happened recently.  The chances of a plane crossing exactly between the sun and you at any given point have to be pretty slim… or maybe I’m just being dramatic.  Anyways, I haven’t flown in a while.  Tonight I watched some airplane lights descend into the city from the beautiful view that we have in our backyard and I remembered flying and the excitement that came with visiting a new place for a while.

The boyfriend just got back from flying (a lot) and is currently sleeping off the jet lag.  He brought me an amazing handmade journal from Germany… complete with crows and pencil and repurposed euro notes inside.  I love it.  Especially the ‘to be continued’ note at the very end.
